Portrait: What makes the Edradour 11 year old Natural Cask Strength 2013/2024 special.
If Edradour can do one thing, it's making it big despite being small. Scotland's most charming "micro-distillery" has done it again - this time with the Edradour 11 year old Natural Cask Strength, a whisky that's as honest as a Highlander in a kilt facing a headwind.
The latest distillate was distilled on September 7, 2013 - a time when the phrase "home office" still sounded suspiciously like an excuse. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks numbered 413, 415, 417, 418, 419, 420, 421, 422, 423 & 424, which almost sounds like a top-secret Highland lottery - except that all the casks won.
It was bottled on December 12, 2024, as God (and the master blender) intended: at Natural Cask Strength, meaning untamed, without coloring, and without chill filtration. It doesn't get any more honest than that. There are exactly 1,997 bottles of it - one for everyone who enjoys seeking (and finding) the truth with a strong dram.
In short: This Edradour is not for whisky beginners afraid of alcohol content. It's a Highland statement at cask strength, a raw, honest tipple with a history, a provenance - and a label that quietly whispers: "Hold on tight."

Tasting Notes: This is how the Edradour 11 year old Natural Cask Strength 2013/2024 tastes like
- Nose: Powerful and complex - vanilla and caramel from the bourbon cask meet ripe bananas, honey, and baked apples - behind this are oak spice, a hint of citrus, and subtle malt aromas
- Palate: Intense, full-bodied, and warming - sweet toffee, vanilla cream, and a pleasant oak spice characterize the character. Light roasted notes, a hint of pepper, and a trace of fresh herbs provide depth and balance
- Finish: Long, spicy, and dry - lingering notes of oak, vanilla, and a hint of white pepper - the power of the cask strength remains noticeable - a finish with character and emphasis
