Portrait: What makes the Mac-Talla Oloroso special

As one of the Scotland's oldest whiskey families are the Morrisons strong>closely linked to the famous whisky island of Islay - this is also expressed by the name "Mac-Talla" - which means "echo" in Gaelic.

The whiskies impress with their depth and diversity, which is typical of this island.

On the coasts of Islay, two worlds collide - the wild, fiery sea and the unforgiving land.
Each whisky in the Mac Talla range has been shaped by the weather-beaten shores of Islay. Not chill-filtered and without added colorings, it is a taste of the untamed that leaves a lasting impression.

The Mac-Talla Oloroso is a small batch bottling made from 10 Oloroso sherry butts (75% 1st-fill & 25% 2nd-fill). The Mac-Talla Oloroso showcases the unique harmony between sherry and peat while introducing a new style to the Mac-Talla Islay malt range.

The complete Oloroso Sherry maturation for 7 years gives the Mac-Talla Oloroso a distinctive nuance that sets it apart from most other sherry bottlings from Islay.

The renowned Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin supplied the Oloroso Sherry casks made of 100% European oak, into which the powerfully peaty Islay New Spirit was filled, then matured in the Morrison Warehouses for 7 years and finally finished by the master blender

A balanced mix of 75% 1st-fill and 25% 2nd-fill sherry casks ensures the perfect balance between cask character and the characteristic Islay distillate with 30- 40 ppm phenol content.

After vatting, the whiskey was given another 3 months of resting timeto allow the flavors to melt together in complete serenity.
