Portrait: What makes the Port Charlotte PAC: 01 2011 special
The Port Charlotte PAC: 01 2011 is a bottling from the Cask Exploration Series, which focuses on extraordinary finishes.
The heavily peated Port Charlotte PAC: 01 2011 received its finish in former Paulliac wine Casks from the Médoc peninsula Bordeaux area of France.
The result is a wonderfully balanced single malt with lots of peat, earthy tones and fresh pome fruit.
Each specific terroir is responsible for the flavors a single Malt can develop. This can be seen particularly with the Port Charlotte PAC: 01 2011. The new addition to the Cask Exploration series spent the second half of its maturation period in Paulliac Casks from Bordeaux.
Tasting Notes: This is what the Port Charlotte PAC: 01 2011 tastes like
- Nose: at the beginning earthy aromas paired with mineral tones and lots of smoke - behind it fresh green apples - above all fresh sea air
- Palate: full and strong in taste - again the earthy notes, now together with hints of dried herbs, strong forest honey and ripe pears - above all a clear smoky note
- Finish: long and slightly sweet on the finish with hints of moist ash, then tones of fresh herbs develop - especially eucalyptus, camphor and menthol
