Portrait: What makes O'Driscolls Irish Whiskey so special.

The O'Driscolls were a seafaring clan from Baltimore on the southwest Atlantic coast of Ireland. Her family crest, an old galley with black furling sails and a cormorant, the noblest of seabirds, at the helm, was well deserved. For the O'Driscolls were men of the sea, men of ships, boats and the wild Atlantic.

The O'Driscolls were pirates and smugglers who built castles and ports and were one of the strongest clans in the 15th century Ireland were. The many different castles in the Baltimore region of Cork and the surrounding islands are a useful indicator of the extent of the O'Driscolls' territory and wealth.

Yet the wild Atlantic was their real domain, and few set foot in the waters of the O'Driscolls uninvited.

O'Driscoll's Irish Whiskey pays homage to these illustrious men of the sea and embodies the wild Atlantean spirit of adventure, bravery and of survival.
