Profile: What Makes Amrut Neidhal Special
Amrut launched an entirely new brand in 2021 with Single Malts of India. The aim of the brand is to gather previously hidden Indian whisky gems from various distilleries under its roof. The pioneering bottling Neidhal is the first independently bottled single malt of India – not a whisky from its own distillery, but a malt from an undisclosed coastal distillery refined by Amrut.
Neidhal, the coastal region, stands for one of the five regions of the earth classified in ancient Tamil texts – each with its own characteristics. And now its own whisky too. As a representative of the Indian coastal landscape, the peated single malt shows tropical fruit and sweet vanilla as well as soft phenols, sea salt and iodine.

- Nose: Tropical fruit, vanilla, sea salt and soft phenols; soft peat with sea salt, later bacon and wood char
