Portrait: What makes the Scapa Glansa special
Scapa, founded in 1885, is the direct neighbor from Highland Park and the second distillery in the Orkneys.
Scapa is only half a mile away from the Title "Scotland's northernmost distillery".
The Scapa distillery is located on the Scottish Orkney Islands, high in the north of the country.
With a view of the Scapa - Flow, magnificent single malts with a lot of character are created here.
Glansa is an Old Nordic word for a storm-laden sky - a storm is approaching on.
Scapa first matured this bottling in first-fill American Oak casks, then received the Single Malt Whisky a finish in barrels in which previously peated Whisky stored.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Scapa Glansa tastes like
- Nose: fruity, sweet aromas of ripe peaches and sweet pineapple, then clear vanilla, paired with some campfire smoke
- Palate: the peaches and vanilla again, plus soft caramel and butterscotch - lighter over everything Smoke
- Finish: long finish - the fruity notes remain present for a long time - the smoke now becomes significantly more present
