Profile: What Makes Bushmills 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish Special
Bottled for the travel retail market, the 10-year-old Bushmills received a finish in former sherry casks – aromatic oloroso butts from the Paez-Morilla bodega in Jerez. The honeyed maltiness of the regular Bushmills 10 is thereby intensified in a darker, denser version.
Bushmills is on the north coast of Antrim in Northern Ireland, not far from the Giant’s Causeway. The single malt is triple distilled, which gives a light, soft and fruity spirit. The distillery now belongs to Proximo Spirits.

- Nose: Distinct aromas of ripe peaches and apricots paired with dark forest fruits – spicy oak and dark chocolate over everything; rich dried fruit and vanilla
- Palate: Mouth-filling and soft – again the fruity notes, plus dried figs and prunes, nutty and spicy tones; raisins and nuts, with honey and vanilla
