Profile: What Makes Penderyn Faraday Special
Penderyn Faraday was originally bottled for the travel retail market. It is named after Dr David Faraday, who developed the still at Penderyn. The whisky first matures in ex-bourbon casks and is then finished in ex-ruby port casks, which give it its soft, fruity, lightly spicy note.
Tasting Notes: What Penderyn Faraday Tastes Like
- Nose: Aromas of ripe, sweet fruit, plus wild berry jam and raisins – fresh vanilla above all
- Palate: Mouth-filling and soft, now intense notes of vanilla and dried fruit – especially raisins and cranberries, behind them spicy oak tones and toffee
- Finish: Medium finish – the berries again, plus tones of light chocolate and damp forest floor
