As early as the 1970s, Raymond Davidson, managing director of Glencairn Crystal, Ltd. designed the glass in Scotland.
But it wasn't until 2001 that his sons started producing the glass.
The Glencairn glass is the first glass specifically for whiskey made by the Scotch Whisky Association was recognized.
The glass has the typical tulip shape of a nosing glass.
The bulbous body at the bottom can be used the whiskey very well in the palm of your hand be warmed.
The tapered opening of the glasses prevents the rising aromas from flowing out of the glasses.
The massive base offers a secure stand and is far less prone to breakage than the long one , thin stem of a tulip glass.
