Profile: What Makes Gin Mare Capri Special
Gin Mare Capri is distilled with Italian bergamot and Capri lemon and combines citrus notes with the house’s Mediterranean botanicals: rosemary, thyme, olive and basil. Alongside bergamot from Calabria and lemons from Capri come Gin Mare’s four principal botanicals – Arbequina olive from Spain, rosemary from Greece, thyme from Turkey and sweet Italian basil.
The citrus fruits are peeled by hand and macerated for twelve months in small containers. The botanicals are distilled singly in copper pot stills, blended and then distilled together again. The gin was created by the Spanish producer Vantguard for Gin Mare’s tenth anniversary, as another homage to the Mediterranean region.
