Kopke is the oldest port wine house - every wine in this house tells a story.
The grapes for Kopkes Colheitas are harvested and destemmed by hand at the optimum time, then pressed and processed.
The wine is carefully macerated to extract the colour, tannins and aromas, which are enhanced by constant stirring during fermentation - this is done in barrels (lagares) at a controlled temperature between 28-30 degrees Celsius until the desired level of sweetness (baumé) is reached is.
At this point pomace brandy is then added to make the final fortified wine.

The result is a high quality wine made from a single harvest.
A Colheita wine ages in oak barrels, never less than seven years.
The port wine is then bottled.

The Kopke 1987 Colheita has a bright red color with a gold rim.

Nose: a rich and aromatic nose of dried fruits, hazelnut and walnut well combined with hints of spices
Palate: in the mouth intense, soft and delicious notes of dried fruit are balanced by a fresh note of candied orange peel - good structure, fine balance and a remarkable acidity
Finish: a pleasant and persistent finish

Served chilled, the Kopke 1987 Colheita unfolds all its finesse and sophistication, especially when drunk with desserts - such as caramel fondant with apple-ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brûlée and medium-firm cheese.
The Kopke 1987 Colheita is best served at a temperature between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius.
