Profile: The Tomintoul Seiridh at a glance
- Tomintoul's gentle, smooth single malt: “Seiridh” is Gaelic and means sherry
- Tomintoul: The gentle dram from Scotland Speyside
- Matured in exBourbon Barrels with a finish in 1st-fill exOloroso Shery Casks
Portrait: What makes the Tomintoul Seiridh special.
Tomintoul Seiridh (Gaelic, pronounced: "sheh-ree") means Sherry.
This perfectly balanced single malt was first matured in former Bourbon Barrels from Kentucky, USA, then matured in selected first-filled exOloroso Sherry Casks from a bodega in Andalusia, Spain.
This refining process created a wonderfully full-bodied and aromatic Single Malt Whisky.
It is considered one of the smoothest whiskies on the Scottish Speyside: Tomintoul is equally popular with beginners and as a relaxed after-work dram. The single malt from the picturesque Cairngorms National Park has been produced using traditional methods since the distillery was founded in 1964.
Robert Fleming has been directing Tomintoul's four tall, high-flowing pot stills for over 20 years. As a fourth-generation master distiller, the distiller has significantly shaped the extremely soft, malty-floral Tomintoul character - and created accessible “gentle drams” that are award-winning and inexpensive at the same time.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Tomintoul Seiridh tastes like
- Nose: full and inviting with aromas of sultanas, butterscotch and candied pecans
- Palate: sweet and lush with notes of dried figs and Christmas cake, underlined with a hint of spicy cedar
- Finish: warm, nutty and long with notes of chocolate raisins, dried fruits and a hint of licorice, leading to a woody aftertaste skip
