Penderyn Rich Oak matures in selected European ex-wine casks. The whisky has a fruit-forward profile with a heavy dose of vanilla. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
The finish combines creamy vanilla with the edgy tannins of French oak, which bring dark chocolate notes.
Tasting Notes: What Penderyn Rich Oak Tastes Like
- Nose: Fudge with dark chocolate and cinnamon, plus some pepper and fruity aromas of apples, mango, bananas and guava; tart green apple, lime and barley against spicy cinnamon oak, with time mango, apricot, banana and sweet vanilla
- Palate: Rich and complex, creamy-soft with notes of vanilla, spicy oak and cinnamon – nutty and some toffee in the background; ginger, barley, banana, mango and apricot, a hint of beeswax and honey
