The richness of Frangelico Liqueur lies in its origins. Frangelico Liqueur is made from hazelnuts from Italy and combined with coffee, cocoa and vanilla distillates and extracts to create a sweet but balanced golden elixir that can be enjoyed at any time of the year and on any evening. 
Frangelico Liqueur seduces the senses with a surprising golden sweetness that comes from Italian hazelnuts. The variety of hazelnut used is called Tonda Gentile and is a specialty of the northern Italian region of Piemont.
These hazelnuts are larger, plumper, more uniform and have no bitter taste, making them perfect for roasting b> and gives the Frangelico Liqueur its intense hazelnut taste.

The Legend

Legend has it that Frangelico's origins date back more than 300 years, to the presence of Christian monks in the hills of the Piemont region of northern Italy. Her skills in dealing with fine food and drink included the art of distilling, particularly the use of wild hazelnuts and other valuable ingredients to make liqueur recipes to create what the Frangelico Liqueur is based on today. The name Frangelico is part of this local legend - an abbreviation for Fra’ Angelico, the hermit monk Angelico is said to have lived in the beautiful hills of Piemont in the 18th century.
