Profile: What Makes ORNABRAK Single Malt Gin Special
ORNABRAK is a distinctive single malt gin from Ireland, produced by the small private company Origin Spirits, led by Patrick Shelley, who left his career at a global drinks corporation for his own idea. Handmade from 100% Irish malted barley, the base spirit itself is produced through quadruple distillation in copper pot stills, before a fifth distillation together with five selected botanicals creates a special, ethereal, green, fragrant gin. Alongside the classic juniper berries, the main ingredient is the needles of the Douglas fir native to the West Cork region. The name ORNABRAK is derived from the Gaelic word for malted barley; the gin's recipe was developed through meticulous sensory work, guided by the constant advice of some of the world's most renowned bartenders.
