Profile: What Makes Harahorn Norwegian Gin Special
Det Norske Brenneri distils this balanced gin with Norwegian botanicals from the Norwegian mountain Harahorn – including juniper berries, marjoram, blueberries, rhubarb and angelica root. It won the gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
The botanicals come from different parts of Norway: juniper from Røros, blueberries from Nordmarka, rhubarb and bladderwrack from Grimstad, angelica from Oppdal and wild marjoram from Sunndal. Further botanicals include coriander, grains of paradise, orange peel, lemon, nectarine skin and anise.
Tasting Notes: What Harahorn Norwegian Gin Tastes Like
- Nose: Bright and earthy with juniper, lemon, rhubarb and anise
- Palate: Bold and complex: plenty of juniper, blueberry, nectarine, lemon zest and tart rhubarb with a hint of blackberry jam
