Profile: What Makes TENU Gin Special
The home of this rugged gin is the Finnish taiga; the botanicals and the crystal-clear water used come from the natural, primeval forests in the north of the country. The gin is made by a brotherhood of monks from rare wild forest ingredients. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
After maceration the mash is distilled in a 150-litre Arnold Holstein copper pot still with citrus peels in a botanical basket. The distillate at 80% alcohol rests for about three weeks before being bottled at 47% ABV.
Tasting Notes: What TENU Gin Tastes Like
- Nose: Fresh citrus fruit, juniper and a fine spice of herbs and mosses
- Palate: Fruity-spicy with notes of ripe berries, plus spicy tones of coriander and cardamom; juniper-forward with slight sweetness and warm spices
