Profile: The Smokehead High Voltage at a glance

- Striking design: Enjoyment under the sign of the skull
- Scottish secret: Which distillery is behind this malt...?
- Strong Islay smoke: The Smokehead High Voltage with a powerful 58%vol.
Portrait: What makes the Smokehead High Voltage special
The Ian McLeod Distillers rock under the name Smokehead the single malt market since 2006. The modern, striking metal tube with a skull contains a typical Islay malt.
However, it is not revealed which distillery it comes from. Many whisky fans guess one of the well-known names from the south coast of the island. This is where the heavily peated, powerful, smoky whiskies whose character is usually associated with Islay come from. And the Smokehead also follows this tradition. Peat, smoke and maritime notes are unmistakable. But the Smokehead definitely has more to offer. Spicy notes and a wonderful, clear fruitiness.
Even if fans of the smoke group will get their money's worth here - it is not one-dimensional, the malt with the skull. The Smokehead is a finely made, excellent single malt with an excellent price-enjoyment ratio. And we can all puzzle over where it comes from and have a lively discussion...
Tasting Notes: This is what the Smokehead High Voltage tastes like
- Nose: the high alcohol content rises tinglingly to the nose - intense aromas of peat and smoke, along with fresh sea air and wheat biscuits, some vanilla and toffee
- Palate: the mouth fills with smoke - thick and oily, then suddenly becoming softer and creamier - nutty notes, some vinegar and citrus fruits
- Finish: the mouthfeel is dazed, almost slightly shocked - a slight sweetness mixes in into the smoke, leaving behind a slight salty taste

Passt!
