Profile: What Makes Tomatin 15 Year Old Special
Tomatin’s 15-year-old matured in American oak casks – a soft and delicate single malt with fresh citrus and soft honey notes. It was launched in September 2016 for the European travel retail market. In the sample it is easy to get to know.
The Tomatin distillery was founded in 1897 south of Inverness and worked with only two stills until 1958. In the 1970s, with 12.5 million litres a year, it was the largest distillery in Scotland. In 1986 it was rescued by Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co, making it the first Scottish distillery under Japanese control. Today it operates six wash stills and six spirit stills.
