Profile: What Makes Glenfarclas 15 Year Old Special
Glenfarclas’ 15-year-old single malt whisky in the “get-to-know size” of 200 ml. The sherry influence is obvious but not overwhelming, and the spirit’s character is not buried beneath the sherry.
It is rich in dried fruit, with plums, dates and raisins, and shows a very long and complex finish.
Tasting Notes: What Glenfarclas 15 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Bold sherry aromas with dark fruit, plus some mint and oak; cinnamon, orange zest, vanilla toffee and dark chocolate; red berries macerated in sugar, plums and dates
- Palate: More and more sherry – the fruit again, above all plums, dates and raisins – then nutty notes; cocoa, dried plums, roasted almonds and orange peel
- Finish: A very long finish – sherry and nuts remain; raisins, orange peel, walnuts and dates
