Ein sehr günstiger und sehr leckerer Whiskey mit Sherry-Aromen. Empfehlenswert für Sherry-Reifung-Fans.

Gelungener Irish Single Malt
Der zweite irische Single Malt den Ich je probiert habe. Ich erwartete nichts herausragendes, bei dem Preis. Der Name der Marke hatte es mir angetan. Als ich ihn ausgepackt hatte und sah, dass er mit Drehverschluss versehen ist, habe ich die Erwartungen eher weiter herunter genommen. Ich verkostete den Red Head zuerst mit ein paar Freunden aus Glencairn-Gläsern. Und wir waren alle durchaus Überrascht. Später in einer Glencairn Copita war das ganze Erlebnis nochmal ausgeprägter. Writers' Tears Red Head erhält seinen Character v.A. von den verwendeten Oloroso-Fässern. Sehr fruchtige Nase (getrocknete Früchte und - meinte ich - frische Mirabellen?). Auf der Zunge sehr ausgewogene Süße mit leichter Eiche - man ahnt nicht, dass man da 46%Vol im Mund hat. Und der Abgang... seeehr lange, wieder süß, ein Anflug von Marzipan und - natürlich - Sherry. Da ich selbst sehr auf "Sherry-Monster" Scotch Single Malt Whiskies wie Aberlour A'bunadh stehe (wie meine Freunde auch) bin ich sehr von diesem Whiskey angetan. Absoluter "Bang for the Bugs"!
