The first 12-year-old Kilkerran in 2019 from the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. This bottling uses 70% ex-bourbon and 30% ex-sherry casks. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
Tasting Notes: What Kilkerran 12 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Dominant notes of spicy oak, plus roasted marshmallows and juicy dried fruit, then cherries, marzipan and a little peat
- Palate: Fruity – especially lemon and orange, then distinct vanilla, butterscotch and honeycomb – fresh pastry notes above all
- Finish: Velvety-soft with notes of lemon meringue – oily with a light salt note, as expected of a Campbeltown malt
