The first Islay blended malt whisky in the Elements of Islay series! Alongside the series' limited small-batch or single-cask bottlings, there is now finally a release that stays constantly in the range. Only single malts from distilleries on the Scottish whisky island of Islay were used here. The sample is ideal for an easy introduction to this bold, peaty Islay style.
Tasting Notes: What Peat Elements of Islay Tastes Like
- Nose: Scorched lemon, damp peat and freshly toasted malt – then earthy tones, liquorice and reduced citrus fruit, lemon, lime and grapefruit – a touch of molasses and dark sugar in the background
- Palate: Warm and leathery, damp heather and beach bonfire – roasted fruit, apples and lime with sugar – sharp peat smoke and warm, spicy notes
- Finish: More restrained than expected in the finish – sea air and baked apples, a touch of coal and cinnamon, freshly cut fruit behind that
