The first single malt whisky from the new Scottish Highland distillery Wolfburn, matured in quarter casks that previously held Islay whisky. The Islay casks give the malt a well-integrated, gentle peat touch. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
Tasting Notes: What Wolfburn Northland Tastes Like
- Nose: Sweet with fruity aromas at first, plus fresh sea air – lemon and traces of cereal and peat in the background; ripe pineapple
- Palate: Sweet with nutty notes – then grapes and honey, followed by coffee and dark chocolate; peach and orange blossom
- Finish: Nicely rounded, the flavours stay, plus a light peat note
