Portrait: What makes the Glenmorangie Signet special
The Glenmorangie Signet is an exceptional single malt whisky from the Scottish Highlands and comes from the renowned Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, Ross-shire. The distillery has a long history and is known for its particularly tall stills, which ensure a smooth and elegant whisky style. With the Signature, Glenmorangie has created a particularly innovative and elaborately produced whisky that clearly stands out from the brand's classic bottlings.
At the heart of the signature is the use of so-called chocolate malt - heavily roasted barley that's more commonly used in beer production. This is complemented by locally grown Cadboll malt, which underscores its exclusive character. The whisky combines some very old distillates, which have matured for decades in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
Visually, the Signet impresses with its elegant bottle, modern design and luxurious gift packaging, which also makes it a popular high-quality present. It exemplifies Glenmorangie's innovative strength and craftsmanship - a whisky that combines tradition with experimental approaches.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenmorangie Signet tastes like
- Nose: complex and inviting with distinct aromas of dark chocolate and sun-dried raisins - accompanied by fine nuances of cocoa, underscored by fresh apple peel - a warm, yet refined nose with depth.
- Palate: soft and sweet at the start, dominated by syrup and spicy cinnamon - as the finish progresses, dense notes of roasted cocoa and bittersweet chocolate unfold - fruity accents of orange and exotic lychee bring freshness, while malty undertones are reminiscent of the Cadboll barley and chocolate malt used.
- Finish: dry, clear, and elegant - the fruity impressions remain subtle at the end. Palate adheres and harmoniously rounds off the complex taste experience
