Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods:
- do not match the description;
- do not function as intended.
Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer:
- free repair or free replacement;
- in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement.
Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

Profile: What Makes GIN 27 Special
The Swiss also master the art of gin distillation! GIN 27 is a premium dry gin in an elegant bottle and comes from the Appenzell region. It combines juniper with coriander, blackcurrant and lemon peel – and above all with regional botanicals that give it a signature of its own. Fresh, lightly spicy and with an elegant fruity note, it is ideal for classic and modern cocktails alike.
Behind the gin stands Appenzeller Alpenbitter AG, a family business with tradition. In 1902 the young Emil Ebneter from Appenzell experimented with self-distilled spirits, inspired by the medicinal herbs of his homeland. This gave rise to Appenzeller Alpenbitter with 42 selected herbs. In 1908 Ebneter founded the company Emil Ebneter & Co. AG together with his brother-in-law Beat Kölbener, which was renamed Appenzeller Alpenbitter AG in 2006. To this day it is a purely family-run business in which the founding family is represented on the board by the third and fourth generations.
The gin’s name is an address: GIN 27 is named after Weissbadstrasse 27 in the heart of Appenzell. It has been awarded repeatedly for its quality, including gold at the World Spirits Award 2023, silver at the London Spirits Competition 2020 and gold at the Frankfurt International Trophy 2024.
