Portrait: What makes the Crystal Head Vodka special
Some vodkas simply come in a bottle. Others come… as a skull. Crystal Head definitely belongs to the second category – and makes it clear right from the shelf: This isn't about understatement, but about a stylish, tongue-in-cheek appearance.
The idea comes from none other than Dan Aykroyd – yes, the Blues Brother – together with the artist John Alexander. Two creative minds thought: "Why should vodka look boring when it can also come across as an archaeological mystery?"
They were inspired by the legend of the 13 crystal skulls, which are supposedly between 5,000 and 35,000 years old and have been found scattered around the world. Whether extraterrestrial, spiritual, or simply impressive – as namesakes, they certainly make an impression. The vodka is produced in Canada and finally bottled in Newfoundland – in true style, brought to drinking strength with glacial lake water.
The production process reads almost like a wellness program for high-proof spirits: quadruple distilled, filtered through three layers of charcoal, and then passed three more times through so-called Herkimer diamonds. Other spirits would probably be ready for enlightenment after this treatment.
Also noteworthy is what is not in it: no additives. No sugar, no glycerin, no secret magic tricks. Simply vodka, cleanly distilled and bottled – with a flair for the dramatic in its design. That it not only looks good but also garners international attention was demonstrated in 2011 with a double gold medal at the World Spirits Competition 2011 in San Francisco. A skull with a medal – that's quite an achievement.
In short: Crystal Head Vodka is the result of an art project, pop culture, and distillation craftsmanship. And probably the only bottle that's both a home bar staple and a conversation starter at any party.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Crystal Head Vodka tastes like
Nose: Very clear and pure on the nose. Subtle grain aromas meet delicate citrus notes and a hint of vanilla. Overall, the bouquet is fresh, clean, and pleasantly restrained.
Palate: Soft and round on the palate with a creamy texture. Subtle notes of sweet grain, light peppery spice, and a hint of citrus zest provide balance. The overall impression remains elegant, harmonious, and exceptionally clear.
Finish: Medium-long and pleasantly mild. A delicate, slightly spicy warmth lingers, accompanied by a gentle, almost mineral freshness. A clean, clear finish without any harshness.

Das Produkt sieht sehr wertig aus und der Totenkopfschädel macht echt was her. Es war ein Geschenk für mein Vater und er hat sich darüber sehr gefreut. Ob der Vodka schmeckt oder nicht kann ich allerdings nicht beurteilen, ich denke aber das er den Optischen Ansprüchen gerecht werden wird.

Ein super Vodka!
Toller Geschmack, sehr weich im Abgang und hat auch nach ein paar Gläsern zu viel am nächsten Morgen keine Nachwirkungen.
