The Wild Turkey brand came on the market in 1942 and quickly became a bestseller.
At that time, the manufacturer Austin Nichols was still a trading company that had its whiskeys produced on behalf of various distilleries.
In 1971, Austin Nichols then acquired the distillery "DL Moore" at Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, from the Ripy family, since all whiskeys are produced here by Austin Nichols.
