The Caledonia Selection from the small Highland distillery Edradour was personally selected by Scottish songwriter Dougie MacLean and bears the name of his famous song “Caledonia”. The 12-year-old single malt matures in oloroso sherry casks and is bottled undiluted and non-chill-filtered at 46% ABV, giving it maximum depth and body. The sample is ideal for an easy introduction to this sherry-forward style.
Tasting Notes: What Edradour 12 Year Old Caledonia Selection Tastes Like
- Nose: Sweet, creamy and honeyed, with Manuka honey, dried figs and dates, soft sherry and a hint of oak, plus candied fruit and hazelnuts
- Palate: Full and rich, with berry fruit, honey and butter on granary toast, plus ginger, dark chocolate and raisins
