Profile: What Makes Glenfarclas 12 Year Old Special
Glenfarclas is one of the few independent distilleries in Scotland. Founded back in 1836 and owned by the Grant family since 1865. John Grant now runs Glenfarclas already in the fifth generation. Glenfarclas is also one of the few distilleries that have produced almost continuously since their founding. This explains the wide range of different bottlings from this house. The sample is ideal for an easy introduction to this classic sherry-forward Speyside style.
Tasting Notes: What Glenfarclas 12 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Pleasantly soft aromas of honey and gentle sherry, plus nutty tones, plenty of oak and a touch of smoke
- Palate: Elegantly balanced notes of dates and nuts, the sherry again – then ripe apples, toffee and a hint of smoke follow
- Finish: Long and spicy in the finish with notes of cloves, cinnamon and allspice, followed by orange and sherry
