Built in 1900 in Speyside, near the town of Elgin, an important centre of the whisky industry in Scotland, Glen Elgin produces a pleasant, wonderfully soft malt. The sample makes it easy to get to know.
Its character comes from a fermentation of around 80 hours and worm-tub condensers instead of standard equipment, which contribute to its creamy, oily texture.
Tasting Notes: What Glen Elgin 12 Year Old Tastes Like
- Nose: Sweet, fruity aromas combined with a light oak note; marzipan, toasted almonds and wildflower honey over red apple, dried figs and sultanas, with a mineral beeswax quality
