Planteray Barbados Grande Réserve is a characterful rum from Maison Ferrand, one of the most renowned names in the international spirits scene. This premium blend is produced on the sunny Caribbean island of Barbados, specifically at the traditional West Indies Rum Distillery, which is known for its high level of craftsmanship.

The base is molasses, which is then aged after a 3- to 4-day fermentation. The rum is produced through a combination of pot still distillation in a historic Batson facility from 1850 and modern twin column distillation - a blend of tradition and technical precision.

Maturation takes place in two stages: First, the rum is aged for 1 to 3 years in former Bourbon Casks directly on Barbados, where the tropical climate ensures rapid maturation. It then travels to France, where it is refined for approximately another year in small, used Ferrand Cognac Casks made of French oak in the cool cellars of Château de Bonbonnet in the Cognac region. This double maturation - tropical and continental - gives the rum its unique finesse and elegant depth for which Planteray rums are prized worldwide.

The light dosage of 16 g/l subtly rounds off the profile without losing its authenticity.
