Profile: What Makes Black Bottle 10 Year Old Special
This blended Scotch whisky unites seven whiskies from the Scottish island of Islay, married with the finest grain whiskies of Scotland. The result combines a rounded Islay character with the drinkability of a blend.
Black Bottle was created in 1879 by Gordon Graham & Co. in Aberdeen. The three Graham brothers – Charles Innes, Gordon and David – originally traded in tea before turning to whisky blending. The brand spread quickly among east-coast fishermen who valued it on long sea journeys. The name goes back to the original bottle of black German glass, which echoes a traditional pot still.
