Under the direction of whisky creator Dr Bill Lumsden and master blender Gillian Macdonald, a new expression has been released annually since 2022, deliberately carrying no age statement, each translating a specific sensory experience – from cherry blossoms in Tokyo to childhood ice cream memories – into whisky form. The "A Tale of" series thus forms the creative heart of the Highland distillery Glenmorangie, founded in 1843.
Each "A Tale of" edition is available for a limited time and is replaced by a new story once sold out. We currently stock Glenmorangie A Tale of Ice Cream and A Tale of Spices – while stocks last.

Why does Glenmorangie deliberately omit age statements in this series?
The "A Tale of" series was created with the explicit aim of showcasing Glenmorangie's creative, storytelling side – in contrast to the distillery's more traditionally minded core range. Rather than an age, each bottling centres on a sensory theme: "A Tale of Forest" (2022) incorporated juniper, heather, and pine directly into the peat fire used for malting, "A Tale of Tokyo" (2023) paid tribute to the Japanese metropolis, "A Tale of Ice Cream" (2024) evokes childhood ice cream memories, and "A Tale of Spices" (2025) blends four different cask types into a flavour picture inspired by spice markets.
What happens once an edition sells out?
Each "A Tale of" bottling is deliberately conceived as a limited annual edition and is not reissued once sold out, but replaced by an entirely new story the following year. Which editions are currently available therefore changes over time.
