A milestone that impressively demonstrates what happens when you exercise patience for two decades—and no one gets the idea to open the cask prematurely during that time.

Kilchoman was founded in 2005 on the Scottish island of Islay and is one of the island's youngest distilleries. That is precisely what makes a single malt aged for 20 years so special. As a farm distillery, Kilchoman has aimed from the very beginning to handle as many production steps as possible in-house—from growing barley in its own fields to the distillation process itself. This close connection to its origins makes the distillery a unique standout in the world of Scotch whisky.

Following the great success of the 20th Anniversary Casks, the Family Collection marks the next exclusive release. These four limited editions were personally selected by the five members of the founding Wills family and reflect both their passion and the evolution of the distillery. Each bottling tells its own chapter of the Kilchoman story—with the 20-year-old serving as the magnificent highlight.

For this special edition, exclusively ex-bourbon casks were used. Distilled from Kilchoman’s signature heavily peated barley (50 ppm phenol content), it represents the oldest stock the distillery has ever released. Together with the 11-, 14-, and 18-year-old editions, it impressively demonstrates how cask maturation and time unfold over the course of two decades.
