Portrait: What makes the Bruichladdich The Organic 2011 special
In 2003 Bruichladdich received barley for the first time from Mid Coul Farm. With its manageable 2,755 acres and a highly progressive approach to absolute diversity, soil regeneration and an in-house energy production, recycling and fertilization concept, it is the ideal partner for Bruichladdich.
The Rose family has been farming Mid, located in the north of Scotland, since 1912 -Coul Farm. Their way of growing barley is based on the combination of the use of the most modern technology and the knowledge and mindfulness of their ancestors regarding an optimal balance between nature and man - i.e. cultivation without artificial fertilizers or pesticides.
The most important thing For successful cultivation is the avoidance of monocultures. That's why the barley is grown alternately with other raw materials and is therefore not ready for harvest every year.
Soils, climate and precipitation have an influence on the taste. The result is the pure expression of the terroir in which the plant was allowed to grow.
Slowly distilled and matured on Islay, the Bruichladdich The Organic 2011 is a single malt that, like no other, reflects the past and the future, the people and the able to combine nature in an enjoyable way, a real enrichment in the Bruichladdich Barley Provenance series.
