The 128.9pm peaty The Octomore Edition 14.1, distilled from 100% Scottish barley, is as youthful and dynamic as its predecessors. As the backbone of the series, it represents a starting point in terms of taste from which the others move away in different directions. It impresses with a wonderful balance of smoke, malt, wood and maturity.
The 5-year maturation took place in first-fill American Oak Whiskey Casks and brought out the best of the raw materials, such as notes of vanilla, sweet caramel and Citrus fruits - wrapped in the typical intensely elegant Octomore smoke note with some roasted coffee beans and spices.
Tasting Notes: This is how The Octomore Edition 14.1 tastes.
- Nose: smoked vanilla, sweet caramel and toffee, underlined by peat smoke, coconut and almond flakes, the earthy smoke harmonizes wonderfully with the aromas of citrus fruits, lemon meringue cake and juicy barbecue meat
- Palaete: Citrus, smoke and a distinct minerality on the palate, followed by charred oak, then toffee and creamy vanilla, interwoven with earthy smoke and fruity notes of pear, gooseberry and green Apple - roasted coffee beans in the background, a hint of cloves and nutmeg and the subtle sweetness of heather honey
- Finish: butterscotch and vanilla, the earthy peat smoke typical of Octomore and salty spray, burnt Heather and gorse flowers
