Two distilleries, three barrel stores, one brand: The Japanese pioneer brand Mars distils varied single and blended malts - and in doing so plays with the influences of three different climate zones in Japan.
Your headquarters, the Mars distillery Shinshu, is located in Japan's Kiso Mountains. The alpine climate is characterized by cold temperatures, fog and heavy snowfall in winter. The down to -15°C ensure a slow maturation process for the whiskeys distilled in pot stills according to designs by industry legend Kiichiro Iwai.
The Komagatake 2022 Edition is one of the noble special bottlings from Mars Shinshu and, after combining bourbon, sherry and port casks, combines light fruit notes, dried berries, soft tannins and honey.
- Nose: full fruity aromas of apricots and nectarines, plus ripe red berries and stone fruit, above all Plums and cherries
- Palate: full and rich - the fruits again, now joined by light notes of tannins and spicy heather honey
- Finish: medium finish - not too sweet, the ripe fruits are present for a long time, accompanied by spicy tones
