Gordon Graham's Alchemy Series experiments, much like the alchemists of old with their various ingredients, with different casks and whiskies to create exciting new bottlings. Black Bottle Smoke & Dagger is the fourth release in the series – marrying gentle and bold Islay malt whiskies with a grain whisky that was further matured in casks previously holding a heavily peated island malt, adding an extra layer of smoke.
Tasting Notes: What Black Bottle Smoke & Dagger Tastes Like
- Nose: Distinctly maritime – seaweed and sea salt are present, with spicy peat smoke behind them
- Palate: Ripe barley and malt paired with fresh cream, sea salt and peat smoke – iodine and seaweed in the background
- Finish: Long in the finish – peat smoke becomes more pronounced, with spicy accents and distinctly salted caramel
