Machrie Moor – Arran's cask-strength bottling with the chained dog on the label. Machrie Moor is the name of an old moor on the west coast of the island of Arran; the bare, gently rolling landscape is full of Bronze Age stone circles and standing stones. According to legend, the mythical king Fingal tied his favourite dog Bran to one of these stones.

Trotz der hohen Umdrehungen brennt der Alkohol nicht, sondern ist angenehm eingebunden in ein schönes Bouquet von leichtem Zitrus über einen Hauch Heidekraut bis hin zu dunklen Holzaromen. Rauch und Torf sind – obwohl es in dieser Hinsicht der kräftigste aus dem Hause Arran sein soll – für Liebhaber dieser Geschmacksrichtung sehr dezent. Aber Obacht: die zuvor genannten Leckerheiten lassen schnell vergessen, dass der Alkohol dennoch seine Wirkung entfaltet, wenn man nicht Maß hält. Kleine Gläser mit Stiel und Stil helfen bei der Dosierung.
