The Miyagikyo distillery is located on Japan's largest island Honshu, the heartland of Japan - owner of the distillery is Nikka.
Nose: malted barley, beeswax and floral aromas, then exotic fruits, especially banana - this is joined by licorice and camphor, some charcoal and ash
Taste: again clearly the barley malt, wrapped in herbs, licorice, ginger and cinnamon - light chocolate tones - fresh tobacco leaves and coconut
Finish: a long, very soft finish with tannins, lime and grapefruit - again the tobacco, ginger and cinnamon - roasted nuts and cooked fruit behind
