The whiskey journalist Alfred Barnard visited the island of Islay and the distillery Lagavulin around 1880 and was thrilled by both the place and the 8-year-old serving him - he described the whiskey as "exceptionally fine".
The 8-year-old Lagavulin matured in European and American refill oak barrels - an incredibly complex single malt - sweet, smoky and warming.

Ein wenig harscher und weniger elegant als der 16-Jährige. Nichtsdestotrotz ein guter Islay.
