Stronachie (Benrinnes) 18 Year Old 46% vol. 0,7l
The distillery Stronachie was already in the 1930s, a victim of the "whiskey crisis".
Due to high grain and cabbage prices, the distillery had to stop production at that time, but in the 1950s it was almost completely demolished.
Today only a few walls near the small town of Forgandenny in Perthshire in the Highlands are reminiscent of what great whiskey was once produced here.
Since the end of the 19th century Stronachie was represented by AD Rattray (founded in 1868).
Since the name Stronachie was "abandoned", Tim Morrison of Dewar Rattray decided to bring this whiskey to life again.
For an exceptionally high sum, he bought an old bottle of Stronachie at auction, took a sample and went in search of a flavorful "relative" of this malt whiskey.
From hundreds of barrels, one chose a Malt, a Benrinnes, which was most similar to the Stronachie and filled it under the Stronachie label.
The Stronachie was born again ....
The 18-year-old is full-bodied with a rich and spicy taste.
