Portrait: What Defines Glenmorangie Harrison Ford

When Harrison Ford helps develop a whisky, one might naturally expect explosions, car chases, and at least one dramatic gaze out of a cockpit window. Instead, the new Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Limited Edition offers, above all, one thing: an abundance of style, Scottish composure - and Harrison’s characteristically concise verdict: “It’s nice. It’s very nice.”

The storied Highland distillery Glenmorangie has been producing elegant single malt whiskies in Tain, Scotland, for over 180 years. It is there - amidst rugged coastlines, vast landscapes, and, presumably, a surprisingly large number of people with enviably good taste in tweed - that craftsmanship meets a spirit of experimentation. It was precisely this blend that evidently made the collaboration with Harrison Ford such a perfect fit.

For the humorous miniseries “Once Upon a Time in Scotland,” the Hollywood star traveled to the Highlands, where he got to know not only the distillery but also Dr. Bill Lumsden - Glenmorangie’s legendary Director of Whisky Creation. A casual exchange quickly evolved into a collaborative project. Or, to put it another way: Indiana Jones gained access to a great many casks.

Dr. Bill presented Ford with various maturation styles, samples, and ideas, while whisky samples traveled back and forth between Scotland and Wyoming over the course of several months.

You can think of it a bit like a particularly stylish international secret mission - only with less danger and a significantly better wardrobe. The objective: to create a whisky that suits Harrison Ford perfectly. Elegant, timeless, and with a subtle, unexpected edge.

The result is a Limited Edition that combines classic Glenmorangie character with distinctive Portuguese red wine casks. Above all, however, it tells a story of collaboration, passion, and the joy of creating something truly unique.

Ford himself was thrilled by the experience, praising the team as "true professionals." And Dr. Bill? He promptly appointed Harrison an honorary member of the Whisky Creation Team. Presumably the only role for which you don’t need a stunt coordinator - though a kilt is certainly required.

And it was in precisely that attire that Harrison Ford finally tasted his whisky for the very first time on camera. In true style. Completely at ease. And with arguably the shortest - yet most convincing - tasting note of the year: "It’s nice. It’s very nice."

Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenmorangie Harrison Ford tastes like

  • Nose: On the nose, this whisky presents itself as lively and multifaceted. Zesty, spicy citrus aromas evoke freshly opened orange marmalade, accompanied by floral impressions of honeysuckle and jasmine. Beneath this lies an intriguing waxy note, reminiscent of beeswax or high-quality scented candles. With the addition of a few drops of water, additional nuances of peach blossoms and delicate vanilla emerge.
  • Palate: On the palate, a powerful opening of lively citrus notes is immediately apparent. Bitter orange, lemon, and grapefruit provide freshness and dynamism, while softer accents of baked bread, apricot, raw brown sugar, and caramel candies simultaneously unfold. In the background, a slightly tingling, menthol-like freshness lingers, lending the whisky an added layer of intrigue.
  • Finish: The finish is long and elegant. Notes of orange oil combine with hints of leather and dry oak tannins to create a spicy and enduring finale.
