The Mac-Talla Pedro Ximénez is the re-release of a bottling that had long since achieved iconic status.
Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers is responsible – an independent family business with deep roots in the Scottish whisky world and a clear mission: character over compromise. The name "Mac-Talla" means "echo" in Gaelic. And this echo reverberates clearly from the rugged coasts of Islay – the island world-renowned for its distinctive peat smoke. Here, whiskies with backbone, with character and a healthy dose of sea breeze in their DNA, are created.
The Mac-Talla Pedro Ximénez captures precisely this island character and combines it with the influence of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Andalusia. Two worlds that don't just tentatively shake hands here, but confidently toast each other. The first edition was strictly limited. The second – equally confident – ​​is, of course, also limited – almost as if an already impressive original had been set to "intense" factory settings.
Bottled at a robust 52.8% ABV, naturally non-chill filtered and without added coloring, it remains true to its uncompromising style. Dark amber in the glass, a storm in the heart. The Mac-Talla Pedro Ximénez is therefore more than just a return. It is the comeback of an idea: that smoke and sherry together can achieve great things – if you let them. Or to put it another way: Some echoes don't fade away. They simply grow louder.

• Nose: Robust dark dried fruits open the bouquet, accompanied by juicy raisins and warm toffee aromas. A maritime breeze, reminiscent of salty sea air, wafts through the background. Gentle peat smoke elegantly weaves its way through the aromatic profile, lending depth and an island character to the nose.

• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is rich and intense. Notes of raisins and Medjool dates unfold a luscious fruitiness, complemented by chocolatey caramel. The pronounced sweetness is opulent, yet remains perfectly balanced, as a clearly defined smokiness provides backbone and tension.
• Finish: The finish is long and pleasantly warming. A gentle peat smoke lingers, accompanied by delicate spice notes. A persistent sherry sweetness harmoniously rounds off the finish, providing an impressive, balanced aftertaste.
