Portrait: What makes the Plantation Planteray Stiggins' Fancy special

This special edition is initially produced in the same way as the original Pineapple Stiggins' Fancy. The rum PLANTERAY Original Dark is used in its production. An infusion is created using this blend and the pineapple pulp. The pineapple peels are steeped in Planteray 3 Stars white rum. After some time, the white rum is redistilled in Ferrand copper pot stills. Finally, the distillate and the infusion are blended.

In 19th-century England, so-called "pineapple rum" was one of the most popular drinks.
As is often the case, such good and beautiful things tend to get lost in time... but not if you read Charles Dickens' "The Pickwick Papers"!
Here, the popular drink is described in rich and colorful detail – as the Reverend Stiggins' favorite drink – and that's how the legendary pineapple rum found its way into the Plantation range. Planteray uses the "Queen Victoria Pineapple" variety for its Pineapple Rum. The pineapples are steeped in select Caribbean rum for three months. The pineapple peel, which contains most of the fruit's oil, is also steeped in rum and redistilled.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Planteray Pineapple Stiggins' Fancy tastes like

  • Nose: Aromas of ripe honeydew melon and fresh cola, along with gingerbread and a surprisingly subtle hint of pineapple.

  • Palate: Fresh shortbread, molasses and cinnamon, fresh pineapple juice, and slightly earthy notes.

  • Finish: Fruity finish with distinct mango, papaya, and lemon, with vanilla and mint in the background.
