The Edradour Distillery looks back on an eventful history - with highs and lows such as few Scottish distilleries have experienced. From its beginnings as a successful producer of blended Scotch, through a period under the control of the New York Mafia, to its integration into a large corporation – and finally its welcome return to independent Scottish hands.
What has never changed: Edradour remains a Highland distillery dedicated to the artisanal production of premium single malt. A particularly impressive example of this is its flagship for lovers of sherry cask maturation: the latest release of the Edradour 12 year old was matured exclusively in first- and second-fill Oloroso sherry butts.
Eight of these casks were married to create a limited edition of 6,402 bottles – at cask strength, without chill filtration and without added coloring.
The result: an intense flavor profile characterized by dark sweetness and nutty spice, unfolding in its purest form.

• Aroma: Rich and deep - characterized by dark dried fruits such as raisins and dates - accompanied by aromas of dark chocolate, roasted nuts and a hint of leather - with some time in the glass, spicy hints of cinnamon, cloves and a fine sherry influence with orange zest and oak develop
• Palate: Powerful and full-bodied, with distinct sweetness at the start - notes of toffee, candied almonds and figs spread - the sherry influence is present but balanced, with a pleasant balance between fruity depth and spicy warmth - dark cherries, cocoa and a hint of espresso add complexity - despite the cask strength, the alcohol is well integrated
• Finish: Long, warming and complex - drier notes come to the fore - bitter chocolate, spicy oak and a hint of tobacco linger on the tongue - a gentle tingle persists, accompanied by an elegant nuttiness and subtle sherry notes.
