Portrait: What makes the GlenAllachie 14 year old 2010/2025 Bourbon Barrel #2471 special.
There are Things that are simply rare. A sincere compliment at parent-teacher meetings. A parking space right in front of the supermarket. Or a GlenAllachie from a bourbon barrel - like this exclusive Single Cask #2471, which is charmingly dedicated exclusively to the German market.
While GlenAllachie usually likes to splash around in sherry bathtubs, this drop, for once, shows off its sunny American side. Fully matured in American oak, no further maturation, no barrel hopping - what counts here is clear lines and character. And GlenAllachie has plenty of it.
The distillery itself was founded in 1967 in the heart of Speyside – as a rather inconspicuous supplier of blends. But since its takeover by Billy Walker in 2017, GlenAllachie has been playing in the top single-malt league. Walker, the whisky whisperer behind GlenDronach and BenRiach, has made it clear ever since: Here, quality isn't discussed, it's bottled.
Cask #2471 produced just 166 bottles – roughly the amount you'd get distributed in five minutes at a barbecue. Anyone who can snag one can be delighted: A true collector's item with cask strength, provenance, and character.
Conclusion: GlenAllachie 2010/2025 is like a Scottish gentleman in a Hawaiian shirt – rare, charming, and with one clear goal: your whisky shelf. But please treat it with respect – 166 bottles disappear faster than you can say "bourbon barrel."

Tasting Notes: This is how the GlenAllachie 14 year old 2010/2025 Bourbon Barrel #2471 tastes like
- Nose: inviting and complex - vanilla and butterscotch form the soft base, accompanied by spicy aromas of peppery oak - this is joined by orchard fruits, a hint of white mocha and a surprising note of dried banana, which gives the bouquet an exotic lightness
- Palate: smooth and creamy - buttercream and vanilla open the first impression, before the spicy-sweet notes of gingerbread and grilled honeycomb unfold - muscovado sugar and a dash of light syrup are added as the finish progresses - rich, but balanced
- Finish: medium to long - a fine veil of cotton candy lingers on the Tongue back, accompanied by brandy-soaked orchard fruits, which fade slowly and deliver a fruity-warm finish
