The Glenrothes distillery is located in the heart of Speyside and is something like the quiet nerd among whiskies: unobtrusive, but highly talented.Since 1879, the finest single malt has been produced here, which often disappears into blends – but when Glenrothes appears on its own, as in this case, you can look forward to a truly epic spectacle.

And now things are getting truly exquisite: For the Symington's Choice series, Signatory founder Andrew Symington has once again switched on his finest cask radar and personally selected sherry cask #933. The man has a knack for rarities like other people have for potted plants – only his finds have a higher alcohol content.

The Glenrothes 1995/2025 has everything that makes a legendary dram: 30 years of maturation in a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, a deep dark color (mahogany deluxe!), and a powerful performance at 58.4% ABV. - and an aura as if it came straight from the royal court.

In short: This whisky hasn't just lived - it has matured with style, unfolded in peace, and now wears a suit, cufflinks, and a slightly condescending elegance. Anyone who meets it had better be polite - or pour a glass right away.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenrothes 30 year old 1st-fill Oloroso Sherry Butt #933 Signatory Symington’s Choice tastes like

• Nose: a true sherry monument! Lush aromas of raisins, figs, and dark rum immediately greet the nose - behind them: old leather armchairs, cigar box, fine oak spice, and a hint of beeswax - with some time in the glass, aromas of orange peel, walnuts, and polished mahogany unfold - as if strolling through the whisky section of an old gentlemen's club - intense, profound, and luxurious
• Palate: Powerful, concentrated, and wonderfully mature - dark chocolate, espresso, and dried fruit dominate the opening, accompanied by spicy notes such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of pepper. The 58.4% ABV is present but excellently integrated. The dram wears its alcohol like a gentleman wears his tweed coat. In the background, marzipan, licorice, and a hint of dark cherry liqueur. The barrel character is clear, but never overpowering
