If there were a fairytale castle for whisky in the Scottish Highlands, it would be the Edradour distillery. Small, charming, almost cute - and yet it produces whiskies that make even seasoned whisky veterans nod in awe. The Edradour 10 Year Old from casks #262, #264, and #266 is just such a candidate: not mass-produced, but hand-picked Highland poetry.

It was distilled in June 2014, at a time when the world was still unsuspectingly waiting for its next favorite whisky. Ten years later - in February 2025 - it's finally here, and with a very special maturity: It's been slumbering in 1st-fill Oloroso sherry butts the whole time. And anyone who knows how much character such a cask can impart will have a guess: Edradour has picked up a lot during its vacation in the wood.

This fine wine was bottled by Signatory, whom whisky nerds among us have long known as the cask whisperer. The three selected casks - #262, #264 & #266 - were probably not chosen at random. Nothing is left to chance here, except perhaps who gets the last glass.

In short: The Edradour 10 year old is not an off-the-shelf whisky - it is a hand-picked chapter of Highland history with sherry cask flair and a touch of magic.
